March in Tacoma 2024

March is here and we've found ten ways to "spring" back into the Tacoma scene!

This month we encourage you to enjoy some sweet folk music and history, shop local while sipping on brews, take part in changes at your local community center, run and dance your way through St. Patrick's Day, test your knowledge over a crisp beer, and cheer on our Tacoma Rainiers as they head back to Cheney Stadium.

We'll see you around, Tacoma!

March 1st – 2nd

Enjoy a collaborative celebration of folk art and music, from a collection of platforms, generations, and cultures. This two day event kicks off Friday night with a market in Tacoma Arts Live Roosevelt Room, where you can shop local fares and even bring your own instrument to jam with a few of the SuperFolk musicians. Then on Saturday morning, tour the main floor exhibits of the history museum while listening to various artist perform music that punctuates the themes of each gallery. The main event will be held on Saturday night, where you can listen and dance the night away with featured SuperFolk performers, tour the museum, and enjoy more fares from local crafters and food vendors.

March is national reading month! To celebrate, Metro Parks is hosting a FREE family fun event to honor the birthday of none other than the famous author, Dr. Suess. Join fellow book lovers and enjoy crafts, inflatables, games, and Suess- inspired activities at Tacoma’s STAR Center.

Every Wednesday!

Enjoy some tasty brews while keeping your mind sharp as a tac! Sig Brewing hosts a weekly quiz night, every Wednesday, with great prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. Put on your thinking caps, enjoy a crisp Sign Light, and sink your teeth into a tasty brick oven pizza. The host encourages teams to show up a little early to snag a table!

If you’re feeling fit and adventurous, consider the 10k or half marathon! Each runner receives a fantastic finishing medal and if you wish to celebrate further, downtown is full of great spots to enjoy a celebratory pint.

It’s time again to shop and sip local! Enjoy craft beer, hot food, and array of local treats and treasures. This month’s market features 30+ local vendors, including Sweet Pea and Boy, Splendor and Stone, Clemmons Candles, Sugar Flora, and so much more! Keep an eye on Brewery District Makers Market Facebook and Instagram for a full list of vendors. The generous host, 7Seas, offers not only fresh craft beer, but Washington wines, cider, Kombucha, and a variety of NA beers and other beverages. This is a family friendly brewery market, so feel free to bring the whole fam down for an evening of shopping and fun!

This hardly needs an announcement, but in case you were wondering… baseball is back! What better feeling than sitting in the stands with friends, family, and other local fans, cheering on the heart of our gritty city, the Tacoma Rainiers. Back again are Craft Brew Wednesdays, Friday Night Fireworks, and Salute to Service Thursdays. The season schedule, including promotional nights, is posted online. Tickets can be purchased on the website or at the park, with group packages available. We are so excited to see our boy crush it on the field and of course to hear the sweet sweet sounds of Epic Sax Gorilla. We R Tacoma!

At the end of 2023 People’s Center, STAR Center, Eastside Community Center and the Center at Norpoint asked the public for ideas on how to spend $10,000 at each site. Each center has now sorted and prioritized each suggestion and will be presenting them for a vote. Join each center individually to go over the suggestions and cast your vote on the changes YOU would like to see. Voting will last from the date of the event until April 30th, and the final announcements will be made in May/June.
