We've found a few activities to do in Tacoma this August and we promise they will be fun and delicious! Celebrate the art of craft beer for a whole week, enjoy the art and culture of the Native community, sip on some tasty local brews with while enjoying music and views, catch an outdoor movie along with family activities, explore low tide with friendly biologists, shop local vendors throughout the Hilltop Street Fair, or satisfy your taste buds in the historic Proctor District.

August 9th - 18th

Celebrate the art of beer with local Tacoma breweries and taprooms! This week long celebration includes events all over our Gritty City like beer judging, a live gameshow event, a beer pairing dinner, new coffee beer and other releases, Red Hot's anniversary party, a live recording of Tacoma's very own Grit and Grain Podcast, and of course the biggest event of all, Brew Five Three (more details below). The festivities kick-off at Peaks and Pints on August 9th and you can find a full list of events here. We'll definitely see you there!
Augst 10th
Cheers! It’s time again to celebrate, explore, and enjoy some great PNW beer! Dozens of local breweries and cideries will be pouring their hearts out at Chambers Creek Regional Park, with stunning mountain and water views. Just to name a few, you can grab a fresh poured brew from 7 Seas, pFriem, Ghostfish Brewing, Silver City Brewery, Underberg USA, Offset Ciderworks, and more! Join beer connoisseurs and novices alike for an afternoon of tasting, live music, local food, and fun. This 21+ event includes admission, a souvenir glass, and 8 drink tokens good for one 4oz pour per ticket. There is also an option for a designated driver admission. Grab your tickets and even some extra tokens in advance here!
August 10th
This free all day festival celebrates the beautiful art and culture of the Native community. Featuring an art market, fashion show, poetry reading, dance performance, glass blowing demonstrations, and a chance to wander the In the Spirit Contemporary Native Arts Exhibition. The event is spread across three Tacoma venues, the Washington State History Museum, the Tacoma Art Museum, and the Glass Museum. Come check out this collaborative celebration!

August 17th & 19th
Low Tide Walk with Harbor WildWatch
Take a a guided walk along some of Tacoma's most active shorelines of the Salish Sea. Guided by friendly and knowledgeable biologist and volunteer naturalist from Harbor WildWatch, this tour is a hands on experience. Come touch and learn about the behaviors and adaptations of local crabs, sea stars, and anemones, while also discussing what you can do to preserve their habitat. Tours will run, rain or shine, so dress accordingly. Check out the individual events below:
August 24th
Tacoma’s largest street fair is returning for it’s ninth year! Celebrate Summer in Hilltop with food trucks, beer gardens, local vendors, live entertainment, and activities for kiddos. This street fair centers around the Hilltop Business District along Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Enjoy confections, coffee, ethnic dining, and some local pubs along the way.
August 25th
Explore Tacoma's historic Proctor District while enjoying local food and entertainment. There will be food trucks, live music, shopping, and dining specials at local eateries. If you arrive early enough, there are a limited number of "Proctor Passports" to guide you through the neighborhoods restaurants and shops. What a great way to get to know the city on a beautiful Summer day!
