November is here and we've found some great activities to do around Tacoma!
Explore the services our city has to offer along with potential job opportunities, catch another Dia De Los Muertos celebration, visit with Vikings, skate around in your holiday attire, check out the Hot Shop's Veterans Day celebration, grab a brew while starting your holiday shopping, fix that lamp that hasn't worked in ages, and our favorite, drink for a cause with the Hoppy Holiday Food Drive. There is so much to be thankful for in our gritty city this month.

November 1st – 2nd
This free, family friendly event is an opportunity to learn about city departments, explore job opportunities, and have fun with some hands-on activities. Check out live demonstrations, speak with city workers, and get a backstage look at the dome including a viewing of the Tacoma Dome’s 40th Anniversary film. This year’s event will also include a “Truck-or-Treat” where kiddos can visit each city service booth and explore different work vehicles from Tacoma Fire, Environmental Services, Tacoma TV, and more. This all ages event is also a great opportunity for teens! On November 1st Tacoma Public Schools will bus in high school students to explore various career pathways. From maritime to transportation, and construction to public works. This is a great way to get to know your city and look into new employment opportunities!
November 3rd
Explore the art, heritage, and culture surrounding this traditional Mexican holiday that celebrates the lives of departed loved ones. View beautifully constructed altars constructed by local families, artists, and community groups, built to remember the souls of their lost relatives, and hear about their creative inspirations. Enjoy print making, marigold crafting, traditional dance, music, and food from local food trucks. Don’t miss the vendors market featuring local handcrafted goods, traditional art, and tasty treats.
November 5th
Le May America’s Car Museum invites you and your little one to enjoy a day of fun at their new Storytime event! Enjoy fun interactive stories, dance it out with some action songs, meet new friends, and explore the museum’s hands-on family zone. This event is a free program funded by Tacoma Creates. All you need to do is register here!
November 9th - 10th
Sons of Norway, Norden Lodge #2, is happy to again present Viking Days! This two-day event is full of food, fun, dance, and meatballs. There will be live music, a chance to visit with vikings, a fun spirits, wine, and mead tasting, meatball sundaes, and local vendors.
November 9th
Tacoma's Museum of Glass will be celebrating Veterans Day with free admission to the museum for all veterans, active duty service members, and their family. The celebration program include a color guard ceremony, performance by Tacoma Banjo Club, and an awarding of certificates to honor Hot Shop Heroes. Hot Shop Heroes is a group of military personnel and veteran glass blowers who have come together to support each other through team work and art. The event finishes with guest speaker, Kristin Weber, the Outpatient Creative Arts Therapist for WA Puget Sound.

Got a lamp that just won’t light up? Or maybe a chair with a loose leg? What about that sweater with a hole in just the wrong place? The Tacoma Tool Library Fix-it Night is a great event where you can bring in your torn clothing, beat-up appliance, broken toy, or necklace that’s lost it’s clasp. All repairs are FREE and done by the libraires skilled fixers. Up to two items (time pending) can be fixed per person at the event. They ask that no items that are leaking, dangerous, contain gasoline, or have a strong odor be brought in. What a great way to fix up things before winter and maybe learn how you can take care of it yourself in the future!
November 14th
The Brewery District Makers Market is kicking off the holiday season with an evening of brews and shopping. This event is free and family friendly! Check out local handmade clothing, pottery, soaps, candles, jewelry, and more, all while sipping on a crisp beer from 7 Seas. Enjoy a tasty smash burger from Camp Colvo’s Canteen inside the brewery or snag a hot coffee from Naomi Joes. Find an early gift for a loved one and maybe snag a special treat for yourself.
November 22nd
Grab your skates or blades and enjoy a night of holiday fun at The Armory! This family friendly event encourages you to dust off those old wheels and give it a go. Enjoy a festive atmosphere with a live DJ, lights, and visual projections to get you in the holiday spirit. Children are allowed from 5pm – 8pm and the event become 21+ after 8:30. This is a bring your own skates event, with food and drink for purchase. Ugly sweaters and holiday costumes are highly encouraged!
November 28th
Hobble, wobble, and gobble your way to the finish at this years Tacoma City Turkey Trot! This 5k course starts and ends at Fleet Feet Tacoma in Proctor and walkers, runners, and strollers are all welcome. There will be a 1K kids course for little runner 12 and under. Thanksgiving costumes and turkey garb are highly encouraged just leave room for your Turkey Trot finisher medal!
November 5th – December 3rd

It's time again to drink for a cause! We at Douville Home Group have teamed up with ten local breweries and cideries, as well as our pals at Peaks and Pints, to host the 6th annual Hoppy Holiday Food Drive! All donations collected for this drive go to our friends at Emergency Food Network, who provided over 14.5 millions pounds of food to Pierce County residents just last year! From now until December 3rd, you can drop-off non-perishable food and hygiene items at your favorite participating brewery or make a financial donation towards their totals online. Whichever brewery or cidery raises the most will be awarded the Hoppy Holiday Food Drive tap handle trophy at our December 3rd celebration. Peaks and Pints is generously hosting us again with raffles, seasonal taps, and a chance to meet the brewers. This years participants include E9 Brewing, 7 Seas, Narrows Brewing, Incline Cider Co., Wet Coast Brewing, Cockrell Cider, Fierce County Cider, Sig Brewing, North 47 Brewing, and Camp Colvos Brewing.
